We were happy to hear that The Christie Hospital in Manchester was ranked as one of the best cancer treatment facilities in the world. We have had the privilege of creating a virtual tour for them in the past, therefore this award was no great surprise to us as we have seen some of their state of the art facilities first hand.
Approximately 100 centres across the world were judged by the level of cutting edge technology available for treatment and diagnosis, The Christie was given the 9th slot in the world and the top slot outside the United States.
The hospital, located in south Manchester, has one of the largest radiotherapy and chemotherapy departments in Europe, treating 44,000 patients a year. With an approximate turnover of £230 million, it is home to 2,500 staff, and 300 volunteers.
